Known Mass No. 3, “St. Maurice,” has completed its New Orleans run; the show runs in Shreveport May 17-18. The theater will open at 7:15pm each night. Tickets will be sold at the door ($20), first come first served. The performance will begin at 7:40pm with no late entry. A community class will be offered on May 18 from 1-3pm, no dance experience necessary; attendees will receive a behind-the-scenes tour of the venue and set, hear how the show was constructed, learn part of the show, and practice it on the set. Class costs $30 and includes a ticket to the show on the night of your choice. Learn more about the project, including venue details, here.

The Known Mass project, directed by Ann Glaviano, comprises a loose gathering of dancers, musicians, and visual artists in New Orleans. The project is aesthetically and ethically motivated by devised theatre and DIY punk traditions.

Known Mass was founded in 2013 as a performance project aiming to foster collaboration among local artists. With an eye towards community-building, since 2013 Known Mass has also hosted contact improv classes and jams open to the public. In September 2015, Known Mass launched the Vector Series: contemporary technique classes, structured improv sessions, phrasework labs, and more, taught by a diverse roster of local and visiting teachers and geared to the adult advanced or professional dancer.
